Indonesia Visa for Thai Citizens

Thai citizens do not need a visa to enter Indonesia.

Both countries are ASEAN members, and their nationals enjoy automatic visa-free access for stays up to 30 days.

No prior application or fee is required.

Do Thai Citizens Need a Visa for Indonesia?

Thai citizens are exempt from Indonesian visa requirements for short stays. The exemption applies at all international airports and authorised entry points in Indonesia.

It covers tourism, family visits, and short business trips — no embassy visit required.

Indonesia and Thailand — ASEAN Free Movement Explained

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations established visa-free travel to foster economic and cultural exchange. Thai passport holders benefit directly from this bilateral agreement when crossing Indonesian borders.

This means you skip the standard immigration application process entirely. Simply present your valid travel documents at the checkpoint to receive a standard 30-day entry stamp.

How Long Can Thai Travellers Stay in Indonesia?

Thai passport holders can stay in Indonesia for a maximum of 30 days per entry.

Your permitted period starts the moment you clear immigration on arrival.

Exceeding 30 days results in a fine of IDR 1,000,000 per day — enforced at the airport on departure.

Can Thais Extend Their Stay?

The visa-free exemption for Thai nationals cannot be extended.

To remain in Indonesia beyond 30 days, you must first leave the country.

Apply for a B1 e-VOA or C1 Tourist Visa before your next trip if you need more time.

Visa Options for Stays Longer Than 30 Days

If your itinerary exceeds the standard exemption, you must secure a formal visa. The B1 e-VOA provides a 30-day stay and is extendable once for an additional 30 days.

For even longer uninterrupted visits, the C1 Tourist Visa grants a 60-day stay straight away. Frequent travellers might prefer the D1 Tourist Multiple Entry Visa, which is valid for up to 5 years and allows 60 days per visit.
